한미, FTA 7년만에 첫 양자협의
South Korea and the U.S. have begun official discussions in Seoul, at Washington's request, about the treatment of American companies in Korea.
Specifically, local media reports say it's about the tech company Qualcomm, which faces big fines here.
But according to Korean government officials it's not about any one firm.
The trade ministry pointed out the talks are related to the investigation procedures of Korea's Fair Trade Commission.
Under the Korea-U.S. FTA, the two sides are allowed to request official consultations with, but this is the first time it's happened in seven years.
