Researchers looking for a cure for the HIV virus say they have found one that works in mice.

The scientists, who include Kenyan professor Benson Edagwa, used a mixture of a modified ARV treatment and gene-editing technique to deactivate the virus.

This was discovered when it eliminated the HIV virus in 29 mice. The vaccination has the ability to slip through the membranes of cells where the virus hides and destroy it before it develops to AIDS. It also prevents the multiplication of the virus in the body.

The treatment is said to be effective when administered slowly over a long period of time.

According to the study done last year, more than a million people in Kenya are living with HIV.

If the drug passes through the testing stage and is approved for use by people, it will help cure the more than 37 million people in the world with the disease, which was once considered a killer.
