Mumbai Metropolitan Region witnessed heavy rainfall overnight. Several areas were waterlogged due to incessant rain. Suburban train service was affected and only a few sections remained functional. Maharashtra government declared July 2 as a public holiday. Schools and colleges in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai would remain closed. 13 people died after a wall collapsed on hutments in Malad. 1,000 people were evacuated from Kurla’s Kranti Nagar, as a precaution against the overflowing Mithi River
