U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton has dismissed reports claiming Washington may settle for less than North Korea's complete denuclearization.
Referring to a New York Times report on Sunday that suggested the Trump administration may accept a nuclear freeze by the regime, Bolton tweeted that he and his staff had never heard nor discussed such an idea.
Calling the speculation a "reprehensible attempt" to "box in the President," Bolton said there should be consequences.
The U.S. has continuously called on North Korea for a full and verifiable shutdown of its nuclear weapons program before concessions are made, such as offering sanctions relief.
