A well-known South Korean travel writer was found dead in the Philippines on Sunday.
The Korean police announced today that Joo Young-wook was found dead beside a road in the northern Philippine city of Antipolo.
Joo's hands had been tied behind him and he had been shot in the forehead.
His identity was confirmed by local police on Tuesday when a hotel key was discovered during his autopsy.
Korean police and a team from the Korean Embassy in Manila have been sent to investigate the killing.
Joo, who worked as a travel columnist and ran a travel agency arrived in Manila last Friday to develop more travel packages.
He is the 54th Korean killed in the Philippines since 2012.
Korean police have advised tourists to the Philippines to keep their belongings safe and to avoid unfamiliar places at night.
