Seoul Metropolitan Government's public art projects and its crime prevention designs have won international design awards.
The Society for Experiential Graphic Design, which awards public design projects that have a positive social impact...., gave its top award for this year to Seongdong-gu district's Skyline Wayfinding project.
The crime prevention project won the Sylvia Harris Award and Merit Award for adding addresses to the side of each building to help locate people in an emergency.
A three-way pedestrian overpass in Jongro-gu District also received a Merit Award for its design that incorporates arts and augmented reality technology.
Seoul's projects are the first Korean design projects to receive SEGD design awards.
