N. Korea's foreign ministry issues statement urging U.S. to change calculations

Marking a year since the first North Korea-U.S. summit in Singapore, the North has strongly called on the United States to change its calculations and reach out with a different approach.
The North's foreign ministry spokesperson issued a statement on Tuesday night.
It said the regime did all it can to establish lasting peace and achieve denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula,... but the U.S. deliberately ignored the North's efforts and unilaterally demanded Pyeongyang give up nuclear weapons.
The statement stressed the fate of the June 12th Joint Statement won't be promising if the U.S. keeps holding onto hostile policies.
It urged Washington to make a (quote)"correct strategic choice" and added there's a limit to the North's patience.
For the past few weeks, the regime has been sending a similar message through interview-format reports on its state media.
But this time, Pyeongyang strengthened its tone by choosing a more official outlet -- a spokesperson's statement.
