Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has expressed optimism that Mexico and the U.S. can reach an agreement before Washington imposes a five percent tariff on Mexican goods beginning next Monday.
Local media explained the president reiterated that he does not want confrontation with the U.S.
Such a remark comes ahead of talks between the two countries on tariffs and immigration scheduled to take place in Washington on Wednesday.
As part of its measures to tackle illegal immigration into the U.S.,... the Trump administration said all Mexican goods will be subject to a five percent punitive tariff,... which will be gradually increased to 25 percent.
