Hundreds of people, including those covered in Yakuza-style tattoos associated with Japan's organised crime syndicate, gathered in Tokyo for the annual Sanja Matsuri celebrations. On the second day of the three-day event, people were seen carrying portable shrines on their shoulders, which are believed to bring luck and prosperity to locals.The festival honours the founders of Tokyo's oldest Buddhist temple Senso-ji, and garners two million visitors annually.
