Former President Barack Obama called his wife Michelle "the most caring, brilliant, funny, and grounded woman I know" in a sweet Mother's Day post on Sunday.
He went on to say that she is "a perfect role model not just for our daughters, but so many others. Love you, @MichelleObama."
The Obamas married in 1992.
Though Michelle has talked about the ups and downs of their marriage in her memoir "Becoming," she posted a photo of their wedding on Instagram last year with the comment: "Twenty five years later, we're still having fun, while also doing the hard work to build our partnership and support each other as individuals. I can't imagine going on this wild ride with anybody else."
Meanwhile, Michelle Obama sent out her own Mother's Day message Sunday, writing about her mother, Marian Robinson: "From an early age, my mom saw that I had a flame inside me and she never tempered it. Mom, thank you for kindling that fire within me, and for your example as a mother and a grandmother to our girls. We would never be who we are today without you. #HappyMothersDay, Mom. Love you."
