This is live music at its best. From the Jam fulfil expectations of The Jam fans when performing The Jam's No. 1 hit "A Town Called Malice". The original version of the song was the only Jam song to chart in the US where it reached No. 31 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in 1982. The title of this track is a play on the 1950 Nevil Shute novel "A Town Like Alice" although Paul Weller has said he hadn't read the book at the time. The Jam's original version stayed at the top of the charts for three weeks, preventing "Golden Brown" by The Stranglers reaching the number one spot. The 1985 film "National Lampoon's European Vacation" heavily features the song. It also featured in the films Billy Elliot and The Matador and on the soundtrack for the game FIFA Football 2004. At Millwall FC the song is played before every home game.
This performance comes from the "From the Jam - A 1st Class Return" concert Live at the Forum in December 2007. From the Jam kick off at full speed, each one complimenting the other and the material as fresh as when it was at the top of the UK Charts! They turned a chilly night in North London into a rhythm inferno, and in doing so, rewrite modern world anthems for the 21st century!
From the Jam line up:
Bruce Foxton - Bass Guitar, Acoustic Guitar and Vocals.
Rick Buckler - Drums.
Russell Hastings - Lead Vocals, Guitar and Acoustic Guitar.
Dave Moore - Guitar, Bass, Keyboards and Backing Vocals.
