반기문, 국회 찾아 미세먼지 해결에 초당적 협력 요청
Former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon who heads the new presidential committee on climate and air quality has called for bipartisan support to tackle fine dust pollution.
He met this afternoon with the leadership of the ruling Democratic Party and two minor opposition parties.
Ban stressed that there should be no divide among the parties when it comes to dealing with fine dust -- given the severity of the situation and because it has a direct impact on people's health.
He also asked for the parties to participate in the presidential committee.
The parties vowed to support the committee whether it be through legislation or budget allocations.
Ban will meet with the main opposition Liberty Korea Party later this month.
