MIT and Harvard Receive
Largest Donation Ever in
Support of Marijuana Research Charles R. Broderick, an alumnus of both
universities, recently donated $9 million
to fund scientific research on cannabis. His intention is to help further the
understanding of marijuana’s basic biology. Charles R. Broderick,
via statement Broderick, head of Uji Capital, has previously
made millions of dollars from investing in
Canada’s marijuana industry. To avoid bias, he will have no say in the process
of the universities research, but does stands to
profit if the studies yield positive results. Harvard plans to use their $4.5 million to
study the effects of marijuana on brain cell function, while MIT will examine how chronic
exposure to cannabis affects cognition,
attention and working memory.
