UK court sentences Wikileaks founder Assange to 50 weeks in prison for bail offenses

London, May 1 (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Facundo Arrizabalaga). A court in the United Kingdom on Wednesday sentenced Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange to 50 weeks in prison for breaching bail back in 2012 as he tried to avoid a Swedish extradition request.
Assange, 47, appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London where he was sentenced to serve just under a year in prison having already been found guilty of the offense on Apr. 11, the day he was arrested after spending close to seven years holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.
