National Defense Academy

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, laid down the foundation stone of the National Defence Academy on 6th October 1949. NDA was commissioned on 7th December 1954 and the inaugural ceremony took place 16th January 1955. The academy, situated in Khadakwasla, is a joint services academy of Army, Navy and Air Force. Cadets of all the three forces receive training at the Khadakwasla Academy before going for pre-commission in their respective academies.
