Kids love to climb trees! Its a known fact but today most kids would rather watch cartoons, play stations and sit in front of PC than play out side. New research shows that only 20 per cent of today's children take part in the age-old pastime compared with 64 per cent of their parents. One in three children has never climbed a tree and half have never made a daisy chain. Experts warn that the new generation of children are in danger of growing into dysfunctional adults because they do not play outside. Parents should encourage children to go outdoors. However they have the knack for being over protective of their kids. Which is why kids have missed out on Playing outside, getting muddy, climbing trees and making daisy chains.
Climbing trees helps children to develop balance, upper body strength, cordical hand grip (used in writing), a sense of what their bodies can do, problem solving, perseverance, confidence, self-esteem, independence, resilience and most of all it will introduce them survival skills.
Reiek is one of the towns in Reiek Tehsil in Mamit District, Mizoram about 12 km far from its capital City Aizawl. This is one destination that one should not give amiss where you can completely view Aizawl. The mountain itself, though appearing to be of gentle slopes on its eastern sides has spectacular rocky cliffs notched with caves and caverns on the northern and western sides. The mountain road takes one through the lush green hills, crosses the Tlawng River as it gushes through a narrow rocky gorge, and then climbs up the hills winding up gradually making for a comfortable drive, during which one comes across a few cascades which are a traveler's delight.
