Eight coordinated blasts rocked Colombo and surrounding areas in Sri Lanka yesterday morning onwards, killing as many as 290 people, including 9 foreign nationals. 4 Indians have also been reported to be dead in the blasts that took place in multiple churches and prominent hotels in the Sri Lankan capital and nearby areas when scores were attending the Easter morning mass. As per reports, the Indian High Commission was also on target of the terrorists. So far as many as 24 suspects have been arrested. The defence ministry has temporarily blocked social media to dissuade spreading of disinformation at such a sensitive time. Never has the island nation seen terror attacks of such intensity.
