Netflix Added Nearly 10 Million Subscribers in 2019's First Quarter According to the company, the U.S. was
responsible for 1.74 million of them. That beats a previous expectation of
1.6 million new American accounts. 7.86 million were added everywhere else,
topping another expectation of 7.3 million. Since Q1's end in 2018, paid subscriptions
on Netflix have jumped 16%. That barely exceeds the
$4.50 billion prediction on Wall Street. Globally, over 148 million now have accounts with the streaming giant. The growth comes even as Netflix begins to raise prices on its subscription plans. Users that will see a price hike include those in the United States and Mexico. Netflix will also soon see major
competition with Disney debuting
its own streamer in November.
