The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will not defend any corrupt acts committed by its officers, says JPJ director-general Datuk Seri Shaharuddin Khalid.
Shaharuddin said that at JPJ headquarters on Thursday, adding that the department would not compromise on issues related to integrity and corruption, following a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation into a protection racket of lorry drivers involving JPJ officers in Penang.
The JPJ director-general said the suspects, upon their release from remand, would be suspended from their duties for up to two months.
