True to her Southwestern roots, Kate Vargas’ music “weaves through a riotous brew of folk, blues and rock, delivered by an undeniably unique voice... It’s like the sound of a favorite bourbon come to life: gritty, but with loads of personality to spare.”(The Deli Magazine)

The New Mexico native moved to New York in 2011 to kick off her solo music career. Vargas soon landed spots at various music festivals and gigs at national and international venues, including the Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival in Ireland, London’s The Troubadour, Kex in Reykjavik, Iceland, The Mansion on O Street in Washington, DC and New York’s Midtown Live, where Vargas shared the stage with Southern gothic rocker, Lincoln Durham. She recently returned from a month-long Europe tour with The Reckless Daughters, performing 26 shows in 23 days in Germany, Belgium, and The Netherlands.

“When you hear Kate,” says Justin Remus(Groundsounds), “you don’t forget it. Her smoky, heartfelt vocals make an immediate impression.” Elmore Magazine calls her “a dynamic addition to any musicians-to-watch list.”

Perhaps this is why Strangeclaw, Vargas’ most recent album release, has garnered so much attention. “From her sensual and raspy sound, that echoes of Macy Gray, her creative approach to her craft is making those in the music industry stare with wide eyes, while her longtime fans nod knowingly.” (Richie Friedman, Pen’s Eye View) Kate’s abilities, to both throw herself into her songs and connect with the listener, are rare and refreshing. She “connects with the music on an emotional level that will take listeners on a wild ride and back. There is an unlimited amount of potential in this superstar on the rise.” (Kyle Stevens, The Huffington Post)
