This is the spectacular moment a tour guide in Iceland captured the collapse of a glacier into a lake with a drone camera.
Stephan Mantler sent his drone up in the air and happened to capture a dramatic aerial view of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier calving on March 29.
That Mantler captured the calving was pure luck: he had actually sent his drone up in the air to map out any changes to the glacial mass.
Mantler's footage shows a large segment of the glacier collapsing into the water exposing a glowing blue facade while waves are created below.
The Breiðamerkurjökull glacier lies in the south-west of the island and here is seen calving into Jökulsárlón, or "Glacier's-River-Lagoon." The lagoon is described as one of Iceland's "crown jewels," according to the guidetoiceland.is website.
