The National Assembly has adopted a confirmation hearing report for President Moon Jae-in's pick for oceans minister, meaning his appointment goes ahead.
Moon Seong-hyuk is the second of Moon's new cabinet nominees to get the greenlight.
A report was adopted on Monday, too, for another nomine -- Park Yang-woo for culture minister.
Three more minister nominees are on the waiting list after President Moon's picks for transport and science minister fell through last week over ethical lapses.
But it's a tough road ahead for Moon's picks for unification and SME minister.
Unification minister nominee Kim Yeon-chul,... has come under fire for making controversial and pro-North Korea remarks in the past,... and SME minister nominee Park Young-sun... for refusing to submit documents necessary for the hearing,... as well as ethical lapses.
Although hearing reports are not mandatory to appoint cabinet ministers,... going ahead with their appointments without them would likely make political tensions worse.
