1월 출생•혼인 또 역대 최저…출생아 3만300명 그쳐
South Korea's chronic low birthrate is showing no signs of recovering as the number of newborn babies fell to a record low again early this year.
Data from Statistics Korea shows just over 30,000 babies were born in January, marking an on-year drop of more than six percent.
The fall is being attributed to a decrease in marriages.
The number of marriages in January also dropped some 13 percent on-year, recording its lowest figure in almost four decades.
Seoul's finance minister vowed to set up a task force to look into the problem beginning next month.
