Ingredients:
1 cup Gram Dal (soaked & coarsed)
2 tbsp Split Black Lentils (soaked & coarsed)
1 Onion, (chopped)
1 tsp Ginger Paste
1 tsp Green Chilli Paste
2 tbsp Coriander Leaves (chopped)
1/2 tsp Coriander & Cumin seed Powder
1/2 tsp Cumin seed Powder
1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
6-8 Curry Leaves (chopped)
2 tbsp Rice flour
Salt to taste
Oil, for deep frying
Method:
Dal Vada is a delectable appetizer recipe, which can be prepared easily at home by following a few simple steps given below: To start with, soak the lentils (urad dal) and Gram Dal in separate bowls overnight or for 4-5 hours. Then, drain out the extra water and transfer the soaked lentils to the blender jar and blend them to a fine paste.
Add Gram Dal to the bowl with Split Black Lentils, Whole Gram Dal, Onion, Ginger Paste, Green Chilli Paste, Coriander Leaves, Coriander & Cumin seed Powder, Cumin seed Powder, Red Chilli Powder, Curry Leaves, Rice flour and finally Salt to taste.
Mix them all together properly.
Now, take a small portion of the mixture and make round balls of the mix. Place the ball on the parchment paper. In a similar way, make as many balls from the remaining batter and place them on the parchment paper while maintaining the distance between each of them.
Grease your hands and put one vada ball in heated oil. Deep fry it until it is golden brown in color. Fry all the vadas. Transfer the fried vadas to the absorbent paper to drain the excess oil. When done, transfer them to a serving plate and serve them hot with your favorite chutney.
