Trump did not conspire with Russia : Mueller report

2019-03-25 4

In a huge win for U.S. President Donald Trump,.... Special Counsel Robert Mueller largely clears Trump from accusations that he conspired with Russia.... but it's a mixed verdict when it comes to whether or not he obstructed justice.
Kim Mok-yeon has more.
After two years of investigation, the special counsel led by Robert Mueller says that President Trump's campaign did not conspire with Russia during the 2016 elections.
According to the four-page summary written to Congress by the attorney general William Barr on Sunday, the counsel found no evidence that President Trump's campaign conspired or coordinated with Russia to defeat his rival candidate Democrat Hillary Clinton.
However, in the latter part of the letter, which addresses the issue of allegations Trump tried to obstruct justice, the report summary does not conclude that the president committed a crime, but it also does not exonerate him.
Barr said that the special counsel did not draw a conclusion as to whether the president committed an obstruction of justice.
In response to this, Trump told reporters that it was a shame the U.S. had to go through this process.
"There was no collusion with Russia. There was no obstruction and none whatsoever, and it was a complete and total exoneration.
It's a shame that our country had to go through this."
Democrats have demanded to see the full report, insisting the summary by Trump's attorney general hardly put him in the clear.
Barr says that he plans to release more from the full report, but that some of the material is subject to restrictions.
