UNESCO's World Heritage Committee says, it's keeping tabs on whether Japan is sticking to its promise to raise public awareness on its history... of forcing Koreans to work for little to no pay during World War two.
The comments came in response to a letter sent by Korean professor Seo Kyoung-duk from Sungshin Women's University last December.
Seo is a relatively well-known Dokdo advocate and activist.
The professor pointed out that Tokyo promised to take actions to inform the public on the historical context of its industrial sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2015,.... but that Japan had made no such efforts.
UNESCO said,.... the letter had been forwarded to the Permanent delegation of Japan to UNESCO.... and that they were closely following the situation.
