Alliance troubles for the congress continue pan-India. Despite of stitching an alliance with the jds in Karnataka - the transfer of votes seems to be a big worry for cong and JDS. After much negotiation, the cong and the JDS finalised on a 20:8 seat sharing formula. As per the seat sharing agreement, jds will contest from Uttara Kannada Chikmagalur, Shimoga, Tumkur, Hassan, Mandya, bengaluru north and Bijapur. Majority of the seats JDS will be contest and held by BJP and thus transfer of congress votes to its regional ally is crucial for the Lok Sabha win but cong and JDS are finding it hard to coordinate the transfer of votes, in view of the in fight that continues to take place within the Coalition state govt in Karnataka. Mandya that is being contested by HDK's son Nikhil Kumaraswamy for the first time ever will be high stakes battle. He is pitted against independent Sumalatha Ambareesh.
