올해 첫 국회 개막... 30일 의사일정 돌입
South Korea's National Assembly convened its first parliamentary session of the year this afternoon,... ending a two-month hiatus.
During the 30-day session,... the leaders of the country's three main political parties will give policy speeches,... on top of a questioning session for government ministries,... and a pile of pending bills to work through.
The parties have agreed to negotiate on bills related to the fine-dust problem,... and have them ready for a full floor vote next week.
They include bills to designate severe fine dust air pollution as a national disaster -- which would allow the government to inject state funds to counter an emergency.
Parliament had been stuck in limbo since January over a number of issues,... such as the appointment of an election watchdog official without a confirmation hearing,... and alleged real estate speculation by a former ruling party lawmaker.
