The suicide of Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula at Hyderabad Central University (HCU) has led to a series of protests in Mumbai’s campuses too. Student groups and students’ unions from institutions such as Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IITB), Mumbai University, Nirmala Niketan and others have come together to demand that the Ministry of Human Resource Development take stern measures to prevent such incidents.
