Onion prices have been skyrocketing for weeks. Last year the kitchen staple was available for Rs 32 per kg. One year later, the same quantity of onions is available for double the price. And now experts have expressed fear that the price of onions may cross Rs 100 per kg. The main cause of the spike in prices is believed to be illegal hoarding by suppliers to maximise profits. It is yet to be seen what measures the government will take.
