The US has confirmed to India that a night vision device allegedly used by terrorists during an attack in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district was lost by its troops in Afghanistan, linking the trail of the deadly July 27 strike to the war-torn country. The equipment was found near a stretch of the Amritsar-Pathankot railway track to which five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were tied to derail a passing train. The IEDs didn’t go off as intended, saving lives of dozens of travellers.
