Seven bombs were found on the rail track near Shahbad Markanda town, 25 km from Kurukshetra, holding up traffic on the Ambala-Delhi route on
Wednesday morning.
Kurukshetra SP Simardeep Singh told that the seven 51-mm mortar shells were found on the track around 10.30am and traffic on the route was halted as
a precautionary measure. The services of a bomb disposal squad were requisitioned from Ambala. The experts defused the bombs by noon.
Several trains on the route, including the Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi Express, were running two hours late.
