Maharashtra's Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi, who was himself arrested in the case before being let off, said,"I welcome the court''s decision with bowed head."
"Someone had come to surrender. A noted counsel had said that the prosecution obtained a treasure trove of information (from him)," Azmi said, maintaining Memon had returned to India of his own volition to surrender.
