In a prison break incident, eight activists of the banned group Students of Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) on Sunday night fled from the Bhopal Central Jail in Madhya Pradesh.
Reports said that the inmates killed a security guard who was on duty.
“The inmates made a rope with the help of bed sheets to jump over the walls. We have launched a combing operation,” said Arvind Saxena, SP Bhopal.
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh said five jail officials have been suspended.
