Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today hit out at Congress president Sonia Gandhi for constantly raising questions over the welfare schemes and attempts made by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government for the progress of the nation.
"Sonia Gandhi asked what did we do, I want to tell her that even after Supreme Court's order her government didn't let an SIT form for black money but we did it in our first cabinet, now the whole world is ready to support us," said Prasad while addressing a press conference here in New Delhi.
"We launched Jan Dhan Yojana and bank accounts of 1.5 crore poor people were opened in a day and the number rose to about four in a week but nothing like this ever happened during Congress government," Prasad added.
He also pointed out that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, the petrol prices reduced thrice, and inflation is also going down.
"The Congress never thought of Make in India program, and during Sonia Gandhi's government even the Indians hesitated in investing in India but now the foreigners want to invest, this is the difference in 3 months and this is the work we have done," Prasad further said.
Questioning Sonia Gandhi about the reason for her party's loss in the Lok Sabha elections, Prasad said, "People of the country want to know, if all your programs were so good, why your party failed so miserably in polls. Rating of India was down during your rule; it has gone up in just 3 months, after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister. India today has become a country of renewed hope," Prasad said.
Yesterday, while addressing a rally in Haryana's Meham district, Sonia Gandhi had claimed that the Centre was taking credit by renaming the programmes started by the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime.
She had also criticised the BJP for making false promises and asked the crowd, whether the illegal black money stashed in foreign banks had been brought back to the country within the hundred days of the NDA government taking over, as promised.
Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra, both the ruling and the opposition parties are holding a number of rallies since yesterday to attract voters.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed rallies in Maharashtra's Beed, Aurangabad and Mumbai as well as Haryana's Karnal city on Saturday, Congress president Sonia Gandhi addressed rallies in Haryana's Sisa, Meham and Sonipath districts
