Rampal is a controversial Indian religious leader (godman) currently imprisoned in the Hisar. He, however, will continue to be in jail as he is facing several other charges including murder.
A local court in Haryana’s Hisar on Tuesday sentenced self-styled godman Rampal to life imrisonment in connection with a murder case against him.
रामपाल का जन्म हरियाणा के सोनीपत में गोहाना के धनाना गांव में हुआ था। पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद रामपाल को सरकारी नौकरी मिल गई। वह हरियाणा सरकार के सिंचाई विभाग में जूनियर इंजीनियर के तौर पर काम करने लगा। इसी दौरान उसकी मुलाकात स्वामी रामदेवानंद महाराज से हुई और वह उनका शिष्य बन गया। रामपाल कबीर पंथ को मानने लगा। 1995 में रामपाल ने सरकारी नौकरी छोड़ दी और सत्संग करने लगा। इस दौरान रामपाल के अनुयायियों की तादाद बहुत तेजी से बढ़ रही थी।
