Police arrested several women journalists in front of the Chief Minister’s residence here on Tuesday as they were protesting against the ban on two television channels (TV9 and ABN Andhrajyothy). The police have housed them at the Goshamahal police station.
The two channels have been barred by MSOs (multiple system operators) for the last three months for their alleged anti-Telangana stance. The MSOs refused to budge even after the Central I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar gave them a directive to resume the telecast of the channels.
A group of journalists also protested in Warangal where the Chief Minister attended the birth centenary celebrations of poet Kaloji Narayana Rao. They too were arrested.
