Waterlogging due to heavy monsoon showers that continued to lash Mumbai for the second consecutive day severely disrupted road traffic and suburban train services.
Heavy waterlogging has been reported in Andheri, Colaba, Santa Cruz and Kurla.
Office-goers and commuters were the worst-hit and were forced to wade through knee-deep rainwater during the morning rush hour.
"There is waterlogging in low-lying areas like Dadar, Parel, Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar and the Western Express Highway which has caused severe disruptions in vehicular traffic along the stretches. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is trying to pump out water from these areas so that the situation can be normalised," said a civic official.
