Amid controversy surrounding Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Paul's rape remark that sparked widespread outrage across the country, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday emphasised her government's fairness in dealing with wrong-doing and said that those found guilty, even within the party, will be subjected to necessary action.
"If I see someone among us is doing wrong...then I take action against them too. This was never done by the previous government. We do this as it is our duty to protect peace and love. It is our duty to love people and stand by them and fight together," said Banerjee addressing a gathering in Raidighi in South 24-Parganas district.
Banerjee, however, refused to comment on the issue when media persons earlier sought her views on the issue.
