AAP seeks fresh polls in Delhi

A day after the Supreme Court clarified that lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung is free to revive or dissolve the Delhi assembly, Aam Aadmi Party wrote to the LG, asking him to invite BJP to form the government and, if it refuses, to order fresh elections.

Senior AAP leader Prashant Bhushan, who wrote the letter, said on Friday that in view of the new development, the LG should "invite BJP leaders to ascertain whether they are inclined to form the government in Delhi, and, if they express their unwillingness or inability to form the government, then you kindly reconsider your earlier recommendation to the President of placing the assembly in a state of suspended animation, and take the appropriate decision in this regard, so that the citizens of Delhi can have a popularly/democratically elected government at the earliest".
