Sushma Swaraj and LK Advani upset about inductions and reinductions into the party

Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj has opposed the proposed merger of the BSR Congress led by B Sriramulu, a close associate of the tainted mining barons Janaradhan and Karunakar Reddy of Bellary, with her party, and expressed disagreement with the party's ally Haryana Janhit Congress' move to induct Congress leader Venod Sharma.

"I am opposed to the BSR alliance or merger with BJP in Karnataka. I have conveyed to Shri Rajnath Singhji in writing that BJP must not permit this," Swaraj said on her Twitter handle on Thursday. She also wrote a letter to party president Rajnath Singh on the issue.

BSR Congress was formed in 2012 under the leadership of Sriramulu, a Dalit leader close to Reddy brothers, who had quit the BJP after they were arrested in the mining scam. The party got 3 per cent of the votes in the assembly elections in Karnataka last year. These votes, along with the sizable chunk won by BS Yeddyurappa's Karnataka Janata Paksha, had contributed to the BJP's defeat in the polls.
