The Lok Sabha elections in 2014 would be a battle of ideologies said Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday at the foundation laying ceremony of a branch of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) here.
Sonia said, "It is a battle of ideologies (this time). The Congress believes in secularism." And in a veiled attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, she added, "There are those who want to divide the country on the basis of religion. They only want the chair of PM, at any cost."
The Congress chief followed it up by saying, "There are powers today which are trying to derail Mahatma Gandhi's ideology. We must fight them."
