The increasing criticism directed towards Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for the Maharashtra cabinet's decision rejecting the Adarsh commission may end up claiming an unintended casualty - Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.

Chavan - who sources said rejected the report due to pressure from the party - is now at the receiving end from all sides. But what has made things worse for him - and the Congress party - is the criticism being aimed at Rahul Gandhi, who has been attempting to assume the moral high ground when it comes to corruption. The high command now wants to distance Rahul Gandhi from Chavan's decision.
