Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who is on a visit to the flood affected areas in Gujarat, was shown black flags in Banaskantha district. The protesters were raising slogans in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to reports, Rahul Gandhi had to address a rally in Lal Chowk but it was cancelled in view of the protests. The Congress vice-president was touring the state without the presence of elected party MLAs as they have been lodged up in a Bengaluru resort.
The protesters also pelted stones on his car and smashed down its windows stones. Rahul Gandhi was on a day long visit to the flood-hit regions in the state.
Reacting to these protests, the Congress vice-president said, "Let them come, let them come, let them show the black flags, we will not be affected by these people."
Rahul Gandhi also spoke to people from Manotra village as well as surrounding areas, before proceeding to the town's agriculture produce marketing yard to meet the farmers and traders there.
Speaking on the incident, Congress party spokesperson RS Surjewala said, "BJP goons attack Congress v-p Rahul Gandhi's car in Lal Chowk, Dhanera, Banaskanta in Gujarat. Disgusting and disgraceful."
