Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated Dr APJ Abdul Kalam memorial in Rameshwaram on the second death anniversary of the former President who passed away on July 27, 2015.
The ceremony kick started with PM Modi hoisting the national flag at the memorial and later flag off an exhibition bus ‘Kalam Sandesh Vahini’ that is slated to travel across states and reach Rashtrapati Bhavan on October 15, marking the birth anniversary of APJ Abdul Kalam.
The memorial is built by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Pei Karumbu.
Kalam died of cardiac arrest in Shillong in 2015 and was laid to rest at Pei Karumbu in Rameswaram.
