Burhanpur SDM KR Badole was acting on a tip-off on illegal sand mining taking place along Tapti river in the town.
On Wednesday evening, police team led by Badole reached the place where they were reportedly attacked by the sand mafia. Two press photographers were also roughed up and their cameras were broken by the mafia.
