Bill to increase VAT rate on petrol products, liquor in Delhi

AAP government has introduced the Delhi Value Added Tax (Second Amendment) Bill 2015 to increase cap (VAT rate) from 20 per cent to 30 per cent on several items, including petroleum products, liquor, country liquor, bhang, molasses, tobacco, gutka, brake fluid, lottery tickets, rectified spirit, aerated drinks and watches costing above Rs 5,000. Once the bill is passed, it will give the government powers to hike VAT on petroleum products and some other items up to 30 per cent.
