Scores of people have fled their homes in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district after four men died in a clash between Dalits and Jats, some of them allegedly run over by tractors, following a sudden flare-up over a decades-old land dispute. Six women of the Meghwal Dalit community who were seriously injured during Thursday’s clash in Dangawas village, 250km from state capital Jaipur, have alleged that Jats tried to rape them. One man was arrested on Saturday as the situation in Dangawas slowly returned to normal. The Dalit community has named 13 Jats in an FIR filed in Merta police station.
