An eye on Delhi city, 6000 CCTVs soon

Speak Out India is a NewsX special show which debates the main news event of the day. Delhi could soon be paying the ultimate price of security. No place outside your home will be private any more. The government is setting up 6000 cameras to watch the city round the clock. These are mainly for tracking terrorists and criminals particularly those who target women. Over 1300 CCTV cameras are in place. And 300 are already working. The rest will be up and running in the next few months. The Supreme Court, the High Court, and the 6 district courts will be some of the places under heightened surveillance. Besides these the Police have identified 315 other locations as well. And the question we are asking tonight is, Can CCTVs keep Delhi safe? Can terror and rape be stopped with cameras? Do we need cops more than cameras? Will CCTVs kill citizens' privacy? We debate this on the show and try to evolve consensus among our panelists over the issue. Watch this NewsX special show Speak Out India.
