No end to the rape horror engulfing the nation despite the advent of a strict anti-rape ordinance. Notwithstanding the agony of rape, the apathy the rape survivors face at the hands of the police will make one wonder the efficacy of such laws, if the police are not keen on implementing them. In the fifth rape this month in Unnao, a 9 year-old girl was kidnapped, beaten up and raped. The girls family who found her lying naked and unconscious in a field had informed the police. But the police who arrived at the spot grilled the survivor for three hours even without rushing her to the hospital. They had even failed to register a case until the incident was reported in the media. But so far no arrests have been made and the survivor's kin feel that the police is more keen on covering up the case rather than holding a proper investigation.
